The home owner had a 4 seasons room addition that was constructed 13 years earlier and leaked numerous times, even with full coverage of an ice guard which didn’t keep the water out. In fact the low slope roof leaked within the first year of construction. The customer had several quotes on the new roof—all were offering the same shingle roof over the patio. We knew this would only lead to leak problems again, especially in the winter months.
We offered an alternative solution given our experience in working with flat roofs on the commercial side. The re-roofing of the home would be a combination of the traditional asphalt shingles with ridge vents on the sloped roof sections mixed with the flat TPO tan colored membrane and new skylights on the 4 seasons room addition.
The home owner now has a commercial grade flat roof system that will stand up to years of extreme temperatures. As a side benefit, the highly reflective surface of the TPO membrane keeps the 4 seasons room cooler in the summer months making the addition more energy efficient.
