The job started out as a simple re-roofing project. But as we began to remove the layers of shingles we discovered that the boards were rotting and upon further inspection, there was extensive damage to the roofing structure. Condensation was rotting the entire roofing structure. Rot was most prevalent at the peak of the roof where the moisture was trapped. We removed and replaced the fiberglass insulation with closed cell spray foam insulation. Additionally we provided a roof venting system at the peak near the skylight where one didn’t exist before.
The customer didn’t realize the extent of the problem until the roof was removed and we shared pictures taken by the crew.
“Tom mentioned the moisture levels leaving the house were too high and needed to be fixed with a better insulation. We were concerned if we had just replaced the insulation that is would re-occur again. We decided to go with the closed cell spray foam insulation. So far we have noticed the house is more comfortable in the winter months.”
